Saturday 3 October 2009 To the ResQ The Paraplegic Benefit Fund (PBF) is delighted to be involved with an award winning design that could saves lives and limit the risk of spinal injury in an aquatic rescue environment. On Friday 2 October a team of supporters from the PBF attended the Queensland Design on Show (qdos) Awards at the Queensland University of Technology. For the last eight years, this awards program has sought to celebrate design, innovation and creativity in Queensland. This year, Anna Jacobsen, an intern with PBF, took out the silver award for her invention 'ResQ' for 3 dimensional design in the emerging student category. ResQ offers an integrated rescue and spinal immobilization device for the retrieval and transportation of suspected spinal injury patients in the aquatic environment. It aims to reduce the risk of further injury during the pre-hospital treatment and care of spinal cord injuries. ResQ is all about risk prevention which aligns perfectly with PBF goals. PBF has supported Anna's invention through research and development programs which have allowed her to refine her invention. Congratulations, Anna! |
