Everyone's situation is different, but it is no exaggeration to say that spinal cord injury is seriously expensive. In the first year following injury, it costs about $260,000 to support a paraplegic and $511,000 to support a quadriplegic. The cost of lifetime support is about $2.85 million for a paraplegic, and double that for a quadriplegic1, 2.
If you are a member of PBF and you suffer a permanent spinal cord injury that leaves you paraplegic or quadriplegic, you are entitled to claim $100,000 in a lump sum. It may help relieve some of the initial financial trauma.
