PBF is committed to spinal cord injury prevention in Australia and has developed a range of inspirational injury prevention programs that aim to reduce the incidence of serious injury at work or play. Each interactive presentation offers participants a first-hand account of what it is like to experience and live with a spinal cord injury in Australia. Our presenters emphasise safe practices as well as the consequences of making unsafe choices. This unique program demonstrates the potentially devastating consequences of unsafe work practices. The program has been developed and trialled in close consultation with the Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention (IFAP) who have now included it as a component in their Certificate IV Safety Practitioner Course and their Health and Safety Representatives Course. Unfortunately over half of all sport and leisure spinal cord injuries occur in or on the water and tragically almost all result in quadriplegia.
