Changing Minds Changing Safety
It’s 9.30am on Monday 01 February and already feels like 38 degrees. Approximately 30 of Ausmar Group’s key team members are sitting in a warehouse in Marcoola on the Sunshine Coast. They are here because of Ausmar’s dedication to the safety of their workforce.
The Ausmar Group is an award winning Construction Company. They strive to excel in all they do with a focus on customer service and building to an exceptional standard which is reflective by the many awards they have won.
Through their joint love of triathlons, Darron Shields, PBF’s Injury Prevention Manager, had the pleasure of meeting Tony Bryan, one of Ausmar Group’s Managing Directors. The Ausmar Group have undergone some serious expansion and now offer services in the residential, commercial, custom, insurance repair industries, and they are in the process of building their first accessible demonstration home for people of all abilities and of all ages. Tony was interested in Darron’s input on these designs, from the point of view of a paraplegic.
Following on from these initial discussions, PBF’s message of safety as a core life value was fleshed out. The result – Ausmar Group booked a PBF Injury Prevention Workplace Presentation for their team with our presenter Paul Carson. By ensuring that key team members understand that without safety everything else in your life is effected, Ausmar Group are continuing on their dedication to excellence.
“Our guys have done lots of different WPHS training but none have been as honest as Paul’s talk. Our aim has been to change mind sets, we want our team to think of safety the second they walk onto a site – not just theirs but everyone around them. Paul was able to instantly relate to our crew and his message and consequences were both very relevant.” Tony Bryan, Director.
