Engagement Solution

One of the most difficult things Health and Safety Managers face is engaging their staff with safety.  Irrelevant of how well thought out and implemented their organisation’s safety policies and procedures are, without their staff grasping the true importance of safety, ultimately it will be ineffective.

Simply put, engagement is how PBF Australia assists our clients with safety.  We take a real life consequence and place it right in front of your workers.  Demonstrating how a split second lapse of judgement can change your whole life, as well as the ripple effect it will have on those around you.  PBF’s presenters live with the consequences of their own actions or the actions of others.

UGL, a new client of PBF Australia’s, employs more than 7,000 people across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.  UGL are currently working on the Lower South Creek Treatment Program, which is a package of works to upgrade the Riverstone Wastewater Treatment Plant and Water Recycling Plants at St Marys and Quakers Hill.  The program is being delivered by a joint venture between UGL and WSP.  The Lower South Creek Treatment Program forms part of a $2.2 billion spend over the next 3 years to upgrade and expand Sydney’s water and wastewater infrastructure.

Towards the end of 2017 PBF’s injury prevention workplace presenter, Paul O’Brien, travelled to Western Sydney to present to the UGL teams working on the Water Recycling Project.  UGL was contracted to build the world’s first large-scale project producing very high quality recycled water to both conserve drinking water and enhance river health.  Building over 50km of pipeline to link the plants and carry concentrate water from the water recycling process.

Paul shared his story with employees at two UGL sites on Friday 17 November.  Delivering PBF’s “Safety is a Core Life Value” program on site at both the Riverstone and St Mary’s plants.  Through sharing his story Paul is able to build greater awareness of the risks of spinal cord injury, as well as encouraging safer workplaces and supporting better decision-making.
