Australia’s Only Monastic Town

New Norcia
Katie Stokes PBF Business Development Manager

Australia’s only monastic town is New Norcia located approximately 1 ½ hours north east of Perth.

Founded in 1847 by the Spanish Benedictine Monks, today the town is a place of spiritual retreat.

Recently Katie Stokes, our Business Development Manager, met with Senior Abbot to express our appreciation for their 15 years of membership with PBF Australia.

Whilst there Katie was treated to a tour of grounds.  There are 27 different facilities at New Norcia including a monastery parlour, flour mill, visitors centre, mission cottages and the New Norcia Institute of Benedictine Studies.

A particularly fascinating place is the Museum & Art Gallery.  It traces New Norcia’s time as an Aboriginal mission, a centre of extensive farming and a place of education and culture.

If you are looking for a day or weekend escape with a difference you should consider heading to New Norcia to enjoy their magnificent buildings and scenery.  You can find out more about New Norcia here.
