Program: Workplace

Rob was starting a new chapter in his life, a newly built city home and also enjoying life on a farm with his family, working for the Victoria Government and juggling the joys of raising two daughters, until everything changed on the 2nd of April 2018. A simple task he had done plenty of times before on the farm, clearing the debris from the roof of the horse stable, when one missed step sent him falling through the roof 5 metres onto the concrete floor below.

After spending 3.5weeks in a coma, Rob awoke to his new life, he had no recollection of the accident or the time since. A period of post traumatic amnesia of 78 days indicated Rob had sustained a severe traumatic brain injury.  Learning he had suffered a traumatic brain injury, his life shifted to needing to learn how to properly walk, talk, eat again and everyday tasks had to all be re-learnt through multiple months of physio.

Rob now shares his story, not to make people afraid of these everyday tasks but to inspire them to safely manage risks and factor in safety into their everyday life to prevent accidents just like his from happening to others.
