Zac was just like any other young Aussie—working hard tying up ships and hitting the waves whenever he could. Surfing was his passion, and life was all about enjoying the ocean and good times with friends. But in 2019, everything changed.
After a night out with mates, Zac was driving on the Gold Coast when he fell asleep at the wheel. His car veered off the road, crashing into a tree. The accident left him with a C4 spinal cord injury, affecting his arm function and limiting the use of his hands.
Despite the challenges, Zac hasn’t let his injury define him. Surfing is still a part of his life, even if his time on the waves looks a little different now. He has also discovered new passions, including playing chess and keeping freshwater aquariums.
Today, Zac is dedicated to sharing his story—not to dwell on the past, but to help others make safer choices. He hopes that by speaking openly about his experience, he can prevent others from finding themselves in a similar situation.
