PBF Australia’s 35th Anniversary
We were recently joined by over 70 supporters to celebrate this significant milestone over coffee and cake at the Matthews Netball Centre in WA.
Our Patron, The Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia spoke at our morning tea with his attendance ensuring the event was a great success. Our guests, including 20 in wheelchairs living with spinal cord injury, enjoyed his presentation which included a personal insight into the challenges faced by wheelchair users.
PBF Board Director Esme Bowen provided an overview of the history of PBF and kindly shared her recollections of Sir George Bedbrook including the times spent on his spinal ward as a nurse and a patient.
PBF presenter Ben Chivers was there displaying some of his latest pieces. Ben is a talented artist who engraves and burns images into wood, perspex and acrylic; he produced our 35th Anniversary key-rings which were presented to our guests. Search “Burning Benno” on Facebook to see more of his work.
Before the cutting of the PBF birthday cake a drone flew above us to take a group photo of our valued supporters – many thanks to Adrian and the team at RemSense for making this possible
We would like to thank all PBF members, partners and supporters for joining us in our mission to reduce the incidence and impact of spinal cord injury over the last 35 years.
