A Powerful Partnership for Prevention
Back
On Wednesday 25 June, PBF Australia had the honour of welcoming our Patron, His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, Governor of Western Australia, to a road safety presentation at Belridge Secondary College.
As a long-standing supporter of our mission, the Governor shared a deeply personal story from his time as a police officer — attending the scene of a tragic crash involving a 15-year-old who had been riding illegally in the back of a ute. His reflections on having to speak with the young girl’s family were heartfelt and deeply moving, reinforcing the devastating consequences of risky behaviour on our roads.
Following this, PBF presenter Mik Francis shared his lived experience — the result of a crash caused by a driver’s dangerous choice to speed. His message, like the Governor’s, was clear: every choice matters.
This presentation is part of PBF Australia’s national road safety initiative designed to reach pre-novice drivers and inspire lifelong safe driving habits.
We’re incredibly grateful for the Governor’s continued support and advocacy in our shared commitment to preventing spinal cord injury through education and awareness.
A special thank you also to Principal Sharon Lyon and the team at Belridge Secondary College for hosting this powerful session.
If your school or organisation would like to be part of the movement for safer roads, we’d love to connect.
