Injury Prevention Australia
Hear My Story
Participants listen to a short, recorded, personal story through headphones whilst sitting in a wheelchair. (Approx. 5 – 6 mins)
They are invited to imagine what it might feel like to experience the life changing event that is described. Our stories first introduce the listener to able bodied people living what is perceived to be a “normal life”; probably not too dissimilar to their own. The story teller then describes the details of a sudden, unexpected, life changing car crash that resulted in a permanent traumatic spinal cord injury; and shares their feelings and experiences after this change.
The aim is for the program’s content to impact choices whilst travelling on and around the road, leading to a modified attitude and safer behaviours.

Injury Prevention Australia
Everyday someone in Australia suffers a spinal cord injury. While most Australians understand the importance of safety in the workplace, on the road and the water, very few people make it a priority in their life – until it’s too late.
PBF is committed to spinal cord injury prevention in Australia and has developed a range of inspirational injury prevention programs that aim to reduce the incidence of serious injury at work or play. Each interactive presentation offers participants a first-hand account of what it is like to experience and live with a spinal cord injury in Australia. Our speakers emphasise safe practices as well as the consequences of making unsafe choices. Often confronting and close to the heart, our speaker stories leave your audience with safety front of mind.
Our spinal cord injury prevention programs can be tailored for all demographics from school age children, through to teens and adults. We offer four unique injury prevention presentations.
For further information or to make a booking for your next corporate, OH&S, school or community event, call PBF Australia on 1800 809 780.
Our injury prevention program speakers are inspiring individuals who have sustained a permanent injury; with many living full lives as a quadriplegic or paraplegic member of the community. Through our speakers’ personal stories, PBF is able to build greater awareness of the risks of spinal cord injury in Australia and as well as encourage safer workplaces and support better decision-making.
During our youth, road, aqua and workplace prevention programs, our speakers share personal accounts of the challenges of life before injury, decisions made leading up to the injury and the impact their injury has had on their life and the lives around them.
