Youth injury prevention

Education on the effects of alcohol

PBF Australia has developed a range of inspirational Injury Prevention programs that aim to reduce the incidence of serious injury at work, on the road and at play.

Our youth program has been designed in consultation with the McCusker Centre for Action on Alcohol, to reduce alcohol related harm in young people. Suitable for students in years 11 and 12, these sessions use personal testimonials and real life examples to highlight the negative impacts of unsafe alcohol use on personal health, future opportunities and loved ones.

One split second, alcohol-fuelled decision can be life changing. Our youth presenters aim to inspire responsible drinking behaviour through their honest accounts of how poor decision-making after consuming alcohol have had devastating consequences on themselves and others.

Available in both Western Australia and Queensland, our youth injury prevention program offers participants a first-hand account of what it is like to experience and live with a spinal cord injury.

Our speakers

Real life stories, close to the heart.

Our injury prevention program speakers are inspiring individuals who have sustained a permanent injury; with many living full lives as a quadriplegic or paraplegic member of the community. Through our speakers’ personal stories, PBF is able to build greater awareness of the risks of spinal cord injury in Australia and as well as encourage safer workplaces and support better decision-making.

All our speakers are trained in facilitation techniques, presentation, listening and communication skills, and have an understanding of youth risk-taking behaviours and alcohol abuse issues.

  • Demonstrate the potential consequences of alcohol abuse
  • Improve decision making ability and ability to manage peer pressure
  • Communicate the impact of serious injury or death
  • Encourage a sense of personal responsibility for choices and the consequences
  • Encourage young people to be assertive in communicating safe choices to peers
