The theme for this October’s National Safe Work Month is ‘Be a Safety Champion’.
This year’s theme demonstrates that anyone, both employers and workers from any occupation or industry can be a champion for work health and safety.?
Everyone can support a safety culture at their workplace and promote best practice work health and safety initiatives.
“Each year in October, Safe Work Australia runs awareness raising initiatives as part of National Safe Work Month” Safe Work Australia?CEO, Michelle Baxter said.?
“This year’s theme is—Be a Safety Champion?and we invite everyone to promote best practice work health and safety initiatives at their workplace.?
“During National Safe Work Month, we want to recognise that workers, employees, managers, supervisors, teams and organisations can all be safety champions.
“It doesn’t matter what industry you work in, what role you do, whether you act as an individual or work as a team. We can all actively promote work health and safety.” Ms Baxter said.?
“This October everyone can be champions for work health and safety—we can all build a more positive work health and safety culture,” Ms Baxter said.?
The national campaign encourages participants to use the hashtag #safetychampion to give a shout out to the champions in the workplace.
During October PBF will be working with our corporate partners to share the important Safe Work message. Planned activity on the East Coast includes presentations at Rio Tinto, Santos, Tafe QLD, Thales and Upstream Productions with over 800 employees expected to attend. The injury prevention work with PBF member Ingham’s will also continue. In Western Australia Serco are hosting a series of PBF activations for their team at Fiona Stanley Hospital to highlight work safety month. Other planned injury prevention presentations during the month include Orontide, IFAP & Aveling.
